QuickTime VR was developed by Apple Computer, Inc.  QTVR allows developers to create - and users to enjoy - a TRUE virtual reality experience.  With QuickTime VR run-time software, a Macintosh or PC user can walk through a so-called "real world" space, looking around the environment and zooming in on and examining specific objects.  All without requiring any additional hardware other than a mouse and a keyboard.  QuickTime VR enables this experience because it incorporates two new techniques: Panoramas allow a user to view a 360 degree scene by panning left and right or up and down.  Objects allow a user to view and examine items such as a sculpture in a museum or a vase in an on-line store. This is also useable for ecommerce/sales systems so the customer can view each item as if they were seeing it in real life.
